Call for papers – invitation to the Glastag

Call for papers
invitation to the Glastag
on Saturday, 13 th of October, 2018, 9.30-18.00
in Mikulov, Czechia.

Dear Colleagues,
the annual „Glastag“ is a possibility for archaeologists and glass researchers to exchange ideas about archaeological glass in an informal atmosphere: to present lectures, discuss with colleagues and also show original finds.

Our annual meeting in 2018 will be held in Southern Moravia. After the proposal of Hedvika Sedláčková and thanks to Petr Kubín we are looking forward to be guests in idyllic Mikulov. It is near the findspot of the famous grave of Mušov, dated to the second half of the 2nd century AD, which contained – among many other objects – 15 glass vessels. The Mušov finds are exhibited in the museum of Mikulov.

Proposals for papers with the precise title of your presentation in German, English, French or another academic language are welcome until 31.8.2018. Lectures with a length of 10 or 20 minutes should deal with glass finds from Prehistory, the Roman, Medieval or Post Medieval Era. Not only new results but also ongoing projects or students‘ theses are of interest. We will send the final programme at the beginning of September via email. If you wish to participate without lecture, please let us know until 1 st of October 2018.

Planned Schedule on 13 th October 2018

Mikulov can be reached by car within an hour from Vienna and Bratislava or 40 minutes from Brno, where you can find the closest airports. At the registration we would like to ask you for EUR 5,00 as a contribution for the coffee in the breaks. Lunch is not included, but there are plenty of possibilities in the city-centre nearby.

Please feel free to distribute this Call for Papers.

We are looking forward to seeing you in Mikulov!
Best regards
